Thoughts Unwritten
Wow! It’s already been a month since we launched Prom[p]t! As we connect with folks who attend our Prom[p]t Connect journal circles and folks who are using our product we notice some recurring questions such as “How did you decide on the product name?” and “What does the [p] mean/stand for?”
We chose the product name Prom[p]t because… well, that is what our product is… and that is what it does. We have created ‘prompts’ that ‘prompt’. And we can add words after it that completely align with our values… Prom[p]t Connect, Prom[p]t Love. We hope to prompt art, laughter, adventure, and more good living before it is all said and done.
Our logo, Prom[p]t, utilizes the phonetic spelling of the word with the “p” in brackets as it is silent or softly spoken. We see this as a metaphor for discovering self. Often, like the [p], our voices can be silent or barely there. The intention of Prom[p]t is to bring forth those silent or softly spoken voices.
We notice that this idea deeply resonates with people.
This connection became evident when one of our moms sent a text shortly after our launch. Her text read “thoughts unspoken or unwritten may be forever lost.” She said Prom[p]t reminded her of a quote she once heard by Catherine Fisher. “He sang his last song. And the words of that have never been written down. But it was sweet and of great beauty, and those that heard it were changed utterly. Some say it was the song that moves the stars.” After reading those texts, we smiled and did a happy dance. Yes! Our intention of Prom[p]t was heard.
Our human-ness tends to lead us away from our own voices. Journaling can help us reclaim our voices so that they will not be forever lost or silent.
Please follow our upcoming blog series on how we each individually found our voices through journaling. What has your journaling journey been like and has Prom[p]t been a part of that journey?
Love,
