Rebecca - Slipping Away
I met Rebecca at an event earlier this year. She was about to embark on a journey of leading journal circles at Infinite Finds in Cave Creek, AZ. We immediately connected and through a series of conversations she agreed to utilize the Prom[p]t Journaling Set and lead Prom[p]t Connect Journal Circles. This month, she shares her experience with one of the prompts in the journaling set. Meet Rebecca, a journaler since she learned how to write. She is an Arizona native, yoga enthusiast and lover of personal and spiritual growth. Thank you Rebecca, for guest blogging this month!

During a recent journal circle, I chose the prompt When I notice I am slipping away from my authentic life, I…
Selecting this prompt was opportune because that day specifically and for several days beforehand, I felt like I was in a funk. The strange mood I had been feeling had caused me to reflect on what was going on with me. I asked myself if something had happened specifically or if something had changed in my life to cause this. The inner wondering yielded a few ideas and some possible solutions to pull me out of the darkness but my thoughts had been scattered and felt overwhelming. When I read the prompt that day, I thought to myself “Wow, this perfectly aligns with what is going on with me at this moment!”
The prompt afforded me a wonderful opportunity to write down what I had already been thinking about and also explore in more depth some of the aspects I hadn’t yet paused to consider. When I finished journaling, I felt empowered because I had an opportunity to define what “slipping away from my authentic life” looked and felt like and also make a whole list of strategies for getting back into the groove of my authenticity. It gave me a chance to process all the inner dialogue AND create a reference sheet for when this might happen in the future. The journaling experience with this prompt was therapeutic in the moment and also beneficial for the future. What a beautiful gift.
Another bonus in all of this was the conversation inspired by the prompt during the sharing portion of the journal circle. A great discussion ensued around how one defines an authentic life and what it means to each of us. The insights were really inspiring and thought provoking. Authenticity has become a popular “buzz” term in the spiritual world. And sometimes when these rich words become so commonly used we lose touch with the true meaning and depth of what they represent. We can lose touch with the fact that a word that seems so simple is actually quite complex and its interpretation can be so different for each individual. The chance to discuss this prompt was a golden opportunity for each of us to dive deeper and explore its meaning on an individual level. It afforded us a valuable moment to become more self-aware and remember what lights us up.
Love,
Rebecca
